Lake District at Easter

This Easter weekend I went with some friends to the English Lake District. Six of us went – my housemate James, long-time work colleague and friend Julian, and three women we’d only met 3 or 4 times previously. Yes, it does sound like a recipe for disaster, but an excellent time was had by all, and I’d like to think we are all good friends now.
We stayed in a fabulous cottage in Staveley, just east of Windermere. The weather could have been better, but it certainly wasn’t terrible. On Easter Sunday we did what was described by a guide book left in the cottage as a ‘moderate’ circular walk from just outside Grasmere up to the peak of Sergeant Man. It ended up taking us nearly 7 hours to walk (and climb) 7 miles, going up to 725 metres above sea level. The pictures that James and I took can be viewed here.
For those that haven’t met me, I’m the tired looking one in the red
jacket.
