I went out tonight to celebrate my birthday with a few friends.
We went for some Thai food in Cambridge, at the Bangkok City on Green Street – highly recommended. While we were waiting for our starters to arrive, three women came into the restaurant. I said to Dean that I recognised one of them, and then they were given the table next to us. As they sat down I looked at one of the women, and she looked at me. It was someone who I last saw in a hostel in Seattle just short of two years ago.

So we chatted for a while and caught up, talking about the friend she was with when I met her in Seattle, who I’ve been in touch with since. Even though I knew they came from Cambridge (that in itself was odd when I first met them), I never expected to bump into either of them, certainly not in a restaurant on my birthday. I remember talking about the events of September 11th with them when I met them – we were in America only a couple of weeks after that day. Very odd!
